The league derby between Madrid United and Madrid Stars went the way of the Stars last weekend in a closely fought contest at Sonseca.
Batting first Madrid United were all out for 188. They started well enough with openers Akmal and Shahzad putting on 89 for the first wicket. The second wicket also fell on the same score and from that point wickets fell at regular intervals, although Ankus (31) and Apul (22) did help to give their team a third batting point.
For the Stars Kashif Aziz and Humayoun took three wickets each and Ali Cheema, Kashif Rana and Rizwan Shah also chipped in with wickets.
The Stars batsmen paced their innings well and came home with three wickets to spare. Waheed top scored with 34 and Rizwan and Qadeer Khan added 26 and 22 respectively. Tauqueer had his usual fiesty spell of bowling that yielded three wickets at the top end of the Stars innings but Kashif Aziz (20 not out) saw his team home with Ali Cheema (7 not out)
Stars gained 19 points and Madrid United got 6 points.
