Madrid United and Triskell Taverners played out the first match in this years Madrid Regional League on a cold crisp day and it was United who came out victorious.
Batting first Madrid United notched up a score of 269 for 9 from their overs allocation. Top scorer for the winners was Asif, batting at ten, who scored 85. Khalid (38) and Irfan (30) also made notable contributions in quick time. For Triskell S Churnin took three wickets at the cost of 59 runs.
In reply the Taverners lost their top order relatively, but Fitzgerald, batting at five proved difficult to remove and posted a fine 65 before being bowled by Ashraf. The last six batsmen all failed to reach double figures and the Triskells finally ended their innings all out for 165.
The 104 run victory give Madrid United maximum points and Taverners came away from the game with seven points. Next weekend Triskell and Madrid II beat up at the Sonseca ground for the second league encounter of the season.
