Game two in the the Madrid Regional League saw Madrid CC post a comfortable victory over the plucky Triskell Taverners.
Batting first Triskell were bowled out for 148 in the thirty five over. Openers Joe Churnin and Simon Howard batted well to give the Taverners a solid start but once they departed the lower order struggled against the spin and guile of Joss Bancroft. The last five batsmen scored a total of seven runs between as the Madrid spinner ended up with figures of five for 14.
The Madrid batsmen found little difficulty with the Triskell bowling and the Sonseca pitch and surpassed the Taverners total with eight wickets in hand and numerous overs to spare. Openers Lewis Clark (39) and Jon Woodward (28) gave Madrid the solid start they wanted and Joe Healey with a fine unbeaten half century ensured that maximum points went to his team.
For their valiant efforts Triskell received three points. With Madrid CC and Madrid United both accrueing maximum points against Triskell their match up in the near future will be a crucial match at such an early stage in the season. Madrid head to La Manga later in the month for their annual charity event which always proves to be one of the most enjoyable events on the Cricket Espana calendar.
