The patient supporters of the Madrid second XI were finally rewarded as their team won a league game in Division Two at the sixth time of asking with victory over Intellectuals CC last Sunday.
Madrid won the toss and elected to bat on what was officially a home game for the capital city club. Once again their batting frailities were cruelly exposed as they were skittled out for just 81 runs.
For the Intellectuals Waqar Waris bagged four more wickets to add to his impressive tally already this season and he was well supported by Anwar and Faulkner who picked up two wickets each.
However, the bowling performance of the day came from Hossain of Madrid. He took 7-26 in a fantastic 15 over spell that helped his team manage to defend such a small total and eke out what looked like a very unlikely victory at the half way stage.
Intellectuals finally keeled over in the 30th over for just 65 runs to give the excited Madrid players a 16 run victory and a moment to savour in what as been a tough season so far.
