Two members of Madrid Cricket Club fly to Serbia today to deliver cricket equipment that the club have bought for refugees
The club have been raising money for the NGO’S through their annual T-Twenty tournament for over 10 years now but this is the first time they have been able to deliver the equipment in person.
Madrid President Jon Woodward and committee member Lewis Clark are currently on route to Belgrade and Jon sent out this message to Madrid CC and the Spanish Cricket community ..
As most of you probably know, this year we raised money at the T20 tournament to buy cricket equipment for the refugees in the refugee camps in Europe.
We have already coordinated the delivery of equipment with an NGO and the refugees have been playing some cricket for a while now.
Today we received delivery of the new equipment that we ordered for the refugees in Serbia, so Lewis Clark and I are flying to Serbia tonight to deliver the equipment, run two cricket sessions over the weekend and help out a little in general.
This is a massive opportunity for us to help people that really need it and to share our favourite sport with them. Over the course of the weekend we will post updates on our progress and post some photos of the cricket sessions with the refugees.
Please share these posts with as many people as possible. This will help our next fund raising effort and help us reach more people in the future, as well as give Madrid CC much needed publicity that could potentially help us improve our facilities here in the capital!”
