NOMINATION FORM
CATEGORY….Best Spirit of Cricket Initiative in Partnership with UNAIDS and UNICEF
Details:
Madrid CC came up with an initiative plan this year to raise money and awareness for UNAIDS and UNICEF by asking all the embassies and consulates of cricket playing nations in Spain to partake in a fun tournament for the above charities
Sponsorship was obtained from the likes of Easy Jet Air Lines, Estudia Fuera and Phillips amongst others.
The day proved a fantastic success with numerous teams competing, including a Rest of the World team that featured players from five different countries.
Madrid Cricket Club provided the equipment and logistical know-how to host the event, and provided umpires, scorers and support staff on the day. Download information packs where readily available before the tournament on the web and quality raffle prizes on the day enabled the whole event to raise over 2000 Euros for the charities.
A Second solidarity tournament is already in the pipeline for next year, with more teams and more sponsors expected to take part.
The UNAIDS and UNICEF Logos were placed on Madrid’s and Cricket España Websites
Information of the tournament was made available to the local press.
High profile sponsors participated in the event.
A video of the whole event and purpose was placed on You Tube.
