Levante and Valencia Stallions put on a fantastic game of cricket in the searing heat and it was the visitors that eventually took the spoils in a match were the result was in doubt right until the very last ball.
Winning the toss, Levante elected to bat and started well from the very first ball. Opener Tim Lucas hit 54 but the stand out innings was from the returning Bhavin Khakkad who smashed a fantastic 83. Looking comfortable for a century he inexplicably offered a simple caught and bowled chance on the last ball before the second drinks break (30th over) that let the Stallions back into the game.
The tempo of the home sides innings suffered as a result in the last 15 overs and despite a fine 45 from Barry Eaton Levante ended their innings on 264 for 7. They would be later be given 5 penalty points during the Stallions innings meaning that the Stallions required 270 for victory.
The Stallions started well, keeping up with the required run rate but the introduction of Nisar saw him claim two wickets with his first two balls and then a further two more wickets with the first two balls of his second over. With six wickets down the Stalluions were staring defeat in the face but all-rounder Tariq had other ideas.
He smashed an unbeaten 119 not out, to give his side a victory that looked unlikely at the half way stage of his teams innings. As a result the Stallions took 18 points from the game and Levante had to settle for 8 points.
Valencia Stallions 270 for 8 (Tariq 119 not out, Nisar 5-68) beat Levante 269 for 7 (B Khakkad 83, Tim Lucas 54) by 2 wickets.
In the other ECCL game scheduled for the weekend Madrid United wete unable to get a team to travel to Alfas so they unfortunately had to forfeit the game.
