Levante Lightning v Valencia Stars

Valencia Stars 233 for 6 beat Levante Lightning 110 all out by 133 runs.

Valencia Stars win a one sided opening league T20 in the first league day/night match under the lights at the VCG

The first fixture in a new T20 league format kicked off for both sides for 2017. Unfortunately for Levante, the match turned out to be a very one sided affair following what was a competitive weekend previous between the two sides at the ground.

Levante captain Eaton kept up his 100% T20 record of losing the toss and the Stars chose to bat. Following 2 good early wickets, the stars batsmen settled in, however it was the introduction of Alfredi at number 5 that turned the game. After being dropped on 0, he went on to score a big hitting 105 which took Valencia Stars to a big 233 for 6 off their 20 overs.

After some big scores the week before, this match wasn’t over! Or so Levante thought until the the opening pair went for a combined 6 runs and current form player Hunt for just 22. Fareed and Tivey tried to claw back some honour with the latter hitting a top score of 26, but the game was long gone by this point and the home side ended up all out for 110.

The next fixture between the two sides is on 23 April from 7pm – 10pm at the VCG (campo de beisbol) in Valencia.
