La Manga v Levante II
Levante opened their re-entry into ECCL with an away victory against La Manga. They batted first and reached 306 all out in over 40. Rob Pickford reached 110 and Orville Stenhouse 79.
The middle order collapsed and with one exception the tail failed to wag. On his league debut for Levante, Kyle Richardson scored a Swift 47. S Simkins was the pick of the La Manga bowlers with 5 for 22.
In their reply La Manga were reduced to 10 players as a result of a Hugh James’ broken finger that ended his bowling spell and further participation in the match. Despite their best efforts they could not come near the total required.
Wickets fell regularly so that they were 82 for 6 at the end of the eighteenth over. The ship was steadied until the seventh wicket fell in over 30. The last wicket, of opener Scott Hawkins, fell to the 239th ball bowled, with Hawkins on 94. La Manga all out for 180.
