Fresh from their recent win against Madrid Cricket Club, and despite a tough start to their league campaign and a grueling pre-season, the Junior Development team at Levante Cricket Club continued their excellent work promoting cricket in local schools at El Plantio International School, Valencia on the last Thursday in May.
First teamers Scott Burchell, David Tivey and Rhys Morgan (a teacher at the school) set up a whole morning of activities for nine and ten year olds on the school’s sports field.
The children had a good knowledge of the rules of the game and the basic skills due to a class based project on the World T20 and an inter-class Street20 tournament so the coaches were merely fine-tuning the children’s skills.
Stations were set up to work on bowling, batting and fielding and this was quickly followed by a competitive and highly skilled game of Street20.
The children all had lots of fun and are really inspired by the game of cricket.
More cricket clinics are anticipated with an eye to the future of Levante Cricket Club. Amunt!
