Lanzarote were looking to make it two wins from two in the T-Twenty League but it was the league champions St George who came away with the spoils in a low scoring affair.
Batting first, Lanzarote scored 116 for 9 from their 20 overs. Their disappointing total was mainly down to an excellent bowling effort from St George, in particular, Des Stonier who took three for 21 and Nick Holmes who bagged two for 13.
In reply, St George had a few nervy moments towards the end but finally came through with five wickets to spare. They were indebted to a fine 43 not out by Andy French, and a pivitol opening partnership from Elsden and Smith.
St George will be looking to complete a league and T-Twenty double before heading to the mainland in November when they will represent Lanzarote in the national league ain a triangular tournament at the Woodbridge Oval in Alfas.
