The LCA 2010 Season gets off to a F/15 Flyer.
The new F/15 Championship proved to be a fitting curtain raiser for the LCA season, with excellant, competitive cricket played in the true spirit of the game. Organised as a fund raiser to collect some of the 2,500 euros needed to build the nets at the PDC ground, the two matches were surprisingly close with both games swinging one way then the other and amazingly back again.
In the first match the North chose to bat and posted a good par score of 147. However this didn’t look anyway near enough when they found the Midlands on 94 for one off just 7 overs. An incredible session of bowling and fielding followed from the northerners which resulted in the midlands falling 14 runs short after their 15-8 ball overs.
The second match of the day was equally exciting. After the Rest of the World posted only 114 off their alloted overs it seemed the South were going to get an unlikely first win but with 12 needed off the last 8 balls and just 1 wicket left it was the Rest of the World who came out on top taking the last Southern wicket 10 runs short of the target.
Thanks must go to our Match Ball Sponsors, Club Las Calas which is a RCI Gold Crown Resort for their support, and the second round of matches take place in PDC on Sunday 7th March with the North v South at 10.30 and the Rest of the World v the Midlands at 12.45. As always there will be a BBQ and the bar will be open so come on down and support cricket in Lanzarote.
