LANZAROTE COACHING AND UMPIRING COURSE.
This weekend Cricket Espana will be running a combined Coaching and Umpiring Course on the island of Lanzarote. These ” In house” courses will be co-ordinated by Bobby Denning and Ron Graham respectively.
Bobby, who is the Spanish National Coach, and employed by Lancashire Cricket Club, will spend the weekend doing drills and sessions with players from all of the eight island teams, which will include a special individual session with the Collegio Hispano Colts team, the junior club that play in the Lanzarote league.
Ron, who is Spain´s representative on the ICC European Umpires Panel will oversee an Introductory Course that will cover the basic principles of Umpiring. 24 candidates will be taking the course, which will be run along similar lines to the ones run in Campoamor and Madrid last month.
Jack Talbot, the Chairman of the Lanzarote Cricket Association is in charge of the whole event that will take place from Friday the 3rd to Sunday the 5th of April. The eight clubs taking part in this cricketing weekend are Collegio Hispano Colts, Dragons CC, Fisherman`s Inn, Lanzarote CC, Los Diablos CC, Playa Blanca CC, Playa Honda CC and St George CC.
