In October the Visually Impaired International cricket squad from the ECB – Blind Cricket England & Wales came to La Manga Club Resort for 5 days for a winter training camp. Liaising with coach Neil Brook of Cricket Espana, three of La Manga cricket club’s youngsters were invited to train and take part in a match held at La Manga Club.
The young lads, Harry Dear, Robbie Williams and Rupert James all permanent residents in Murcia spent a very enjoyable and educational day with the England squad.Apart from playing a slightly modified version of the game in which they all thoroughly enjoyed they got to understand how others cope with visual impairement and blindness.
It was a real eduction in how others can still enjoy team sport and indeed how competitive these players are. As ever , to be successful in this sport it showed how working and communicating together was so important within the team.
