La Manga welcomed Pinatar Pirates to the Murcia based ground yesterday in the latest league clash in ECCL Division II.
La Manga won the toss and decided to bowl on a very hot morning. The visitors came up against a very tight opening bowling attack from the hosts with Tom Vine and Robbie Williams in fine form.
After losing a quick wicket, Akash Panchal came in at three and made a fine 24 before being trapped leg before by G Clark, who returned figures of two for 32 from his eight overs.
La Manga continued to take wickets at regular intervals and Pinatar were finally all out for just 124. Ian Hunt ended up with three wickets for La Manga, but it was a great all round fielding performance from the home side, personified by Charlie Hunt, who had an excellent day behind the stumps.
La Manga’s confidence grew after the interval and D Williams (52) and S Simkins (40 not out) put on a century partnership to easily steer their side to a nine wicket victory.
