La Manga v Albox

La Manga Cricket Report for Saturday 17th May.
Report by Slogger.
On a nice sunny afternoon the lads of La Manga met up to take on the visitors Albox in their second league match of the season.
The toss was made and home captain Graham was asked to take his team into the field.
The opening bowlers started very well, bowling tight lines and not giving anything away.Their reward was a wicket in the third over with the score on 13.With the score progressing to 29 so the wicket count rose to 3.There was a mini stand of 27 before Albox lost a further wicket.
At this point the La Manga players believed that they could possibly restrict the batsmen to a mediocre score, but D.Langsford and M. Smith, the top scorers for Albox 37 and 22 respectively had other ideas.Backed up by the tail enders they managed to get their team up to 158 for 9,La Manga missing out on a final bonus point by not taking the tenth wicket.
Best of the bowling came from Ruble 2 for 29 and Hamid 2 for 17.
Both teams retired to the Q Bar across the road  who put on sandwiches along with roast potatoes for the mid innings break.
After the interval it was the turn of the La Manga openers to stride out to the crease, but i think one of them had had to many of the roasties because he was cleaned bowled for 5 with the score on just 14.This brought Gopi to the crease and after a slow start he started to make in roads into the very good bowling of the openers and first change bowlers.
He lost several partners until the ” young lad ” Micheal joined him and steadied the ship.Gopi was finally out for a tremendous knock of 60.That just left the ” young lad ” to see the side through to the end reaching 160 for the loss of 7 wickets in the 32nd over with a score of 27 not out.
W. Ali 3 for 36 the best of the bowling for Albox.
So a second league victory for La Manga and with a two week break until the next ,time for some to work out were they went wrong and could improve.
Next La Manga league match Sunday 1st June versus Valencia 11.00am start.
