La Manga’s second string were just too strong for their Sporting Alfas counterparts as the hosts beat last years Division Two champions in the ECCL 2.
Batting first La Manga posted a gritty 183 all out with openers Kevin Buckley and Guppy Singh sharing an half century partnership. Young Keiron Perman bowled an excellent economic spell for the visitors and he was ably assisted by the ever youthful Bobby Nix as the pair bagged two wickets and three respectively.
Alfas did not have the batting strength to overcome the home sides total. They started well enough but with numerous youngsters in their side they lacked the experience to last out the allocated time and were finally bowled out for just 133 to lose by 50 runs. Bowler Phull took four wickets for La Manga to complete an excellent day for the Murcia based club.
The hosts took 18 points and the visitors 7 points from the fixture as once again declaration cricket added spice to the contest.
