La Manga Kings and Madrid II fought out a draw in the latest ECCL Division Two encouter played at the La Manga resort.
Kings batted first and posted a decent total 204 for 6 from 45 overs. Opener David Williams was in sublime form for the locals and scored 125 of the Kings total. The other opener Stefan Rumistztwicz and Martin Harbour played their part in occupying the crease whilst Williams went about his business. For Madrid Saran Gapani took three wickets for 39 runs.
In reply, Madrid made a brave attempt to chase down the total but eventually run out of overs. They did, however, secure a winning draw with their total of 184 for 7 off just 40 overs. Sengupta and Rao top scored for Madrid with 40 and 38 respectively, whilst Hugh James and Ian Ward took two wickets each for the Kings.
Madrid got 14 points from the game and Kings 9 points. Special thanks go to the Kings for being such a great acquisition to the ECCL Division Two and for blooding many youngsters into competitive league cricket on a regular basis.
