It was a tough day for league newcomers La Manga Kings yesterday as the La Manga Second XI showed just why they will be championship contenders this season.
Batting first La Manga put on 30 before the fall of Akash Panchal but it was the second wicket partnership of Kevin Buckley and Gopi Singh that did most of the damage. They added 115 together and Singh went on to complete his century in a final score for La Manga of 263 for 9. There was some excellent Kings bowling with Stevenson and Williams taking four wickets and three wickets respectively.
In reply, Kings could only muster 124 runs all out, with Stevenson top scoring with 37 runs. La Manga used eight different bowlers with five of them contributing with at least one wicket.
The 139 run victory gave La Manga maximum points, whilst the Kings took six points to take them off the bottom of the table.
