Last Sunday saw the Cobras in action against new side Bollywood cc, the Cobras won their first game against Playa Blanca with Bollywoods failing to beat Commitments in their first F15 game.
The Cobras were left a bit short with injuries and had to field female player Leanne Collins who has played for the Cobras before. It is the first time in LCA history that a female cricketer has played in the F15 and Leanne fielded with fantastic confidence at at one point she nearly hung on to a catch out in the deep which went many a mile in the air. with Bollywoods batting first they started brightly and Arun was finding good form making a quick 23, with help from Deep Singh 19.
Then enter Matty Evans who bowled superbly for the Cobras taking wickets at regular intervals he took 5 wickets for 12 runs in his 3 overs with great support from Mike Wheeler who finished with figures of 2 for 37.
During the Bollywood innings 14 year old Matthew Wilson took a stunning Catch on the boundary to dismiss dangerman Sonu for just a few runs, Matthew is going to be a real talent in future years. Bollywood finished their innings been bowled out for 119.
In reply Cobras captain Steve Nairn opened the batting with Gary Cooper and the two of them made early inroads to the 120 needed for victory , Raman was bowling well for Bollywood but couldn’t find the breakthrough.
When Nairn was eventually dismissed making 28 it was left to Cooper to finish things off with young Matthew Wilson with the cobras only losing 2 wickets in the win, Cooper finishing 58 not out to ensure the Cobras remain unbeaten in the F15 this year.
This week sees The Commitments play The Cobras at Playa Honda and LCC v ST Georges at Yaiza both 10:30am start.
