The Essex Women’s team spent a wonderful few days at the state of the art La Manga Cricket complex last week and during their time here took time out to interact with Cricket Espana.

For several years now Cricket Espana have been forging links both on and off the pitch and this was the latest in a long line of recent partnerships.

In midweek the Essex Ladies took time out to do some cricket drills with a handful of members from the Cricket Espana girls team and then at the end of the tour they played against the Cricket Espana Junior Academy.

The Academy comprised of six players who were under 15 or less and the rest were made up of older Academy players.

Only two of the older players bowled and they only bowled two oves each. In the end the lads beat the Essex Women today by 10 wkts. The Essex Women were very competitive and well drilled in all areas of the game. Next week several public schools are heading to La Manga from the UK, including regular visitors Emmanuel School.

The Academy will play an handful of matches against various opposition of various ages. Cricket most days – admission is free.
