Last week Cricket España held its first ever Cricket Academy, young players from all over Spain were selected between the age of fifteen & nineteen years of age to take part over the three days.
An extensive training program was put in place where they worked on their fielding, bowling & Batting, after each session meetings were held to discuss session they’ve just had.
Two matches were arranged for the academy against London Public school Emanuel college, who came to Spain with a strong group of players, the matches were played over forty overs, with Cricket España winning both games, with some outstanding performances to note, Akash Panchal for taking four wickets with excellent Spin bowling, Jamie Roper for his all round Batting and Bowling, Tyler Hogan Brown for his performance as an opening bat.
Another highlight for the Academy was that Ravi Panchal was spotted by a top coach during the week and ask to join Stanmore CC who play in the Middlesex premier league in the UK, Ravi will join his new team at the end of the month, we wish him well and every success, a well deserved effort.
The Academy has been a great success and a huge thanks goes to the Joel Brook and Mark Perman our coaches for some excellent coaching during the week. Cricket España will be looking at holding the Academy next year, with the possible chance of us holding a Centre of Excellence for younger players later this year.
