Intellectuals CC of Alicante got back to winning ways last weekend with an emphatic victory over local rivals Torrevieja in the latest ECCL League Two fixture.
Batting first on the tricky Bonalba wicket the home side posted an excellent 225 for 7 from their over allocation. In form Tom Richards was once again top scorer for the Intellectuals with a fine 83 not out. Youngster Kieron Wood deviated from his usual position of wicket-keeper and bowled an excellent spell for his club that bagged him three wickets at the cost of 62runs.
Unfortunately, Torrevieja batted poorly and were all out for just 22. They had no answer to the bowling prowess of Sami Ahmed who ended up with three wickets for just five runs from his six overs, that also included two maidens.
Intellectuals took maximum points from the game, but remain second from bottom of the table above Almanzora. However, they have games in hand over both La Manga and Torrevieja and look likely to overtake them before the season finishes.
