INTELLECTUALS END THE SEASON WITH AN EASY WIN
The Intellectuals ended the season on an high note with a fantastic win over arch rivals Sporting Alfas in what was arguably their best performance of the season.
Intellectuals, playing their first home league game at Bonalba, adapted to the wicket conditions much better than Alfas and ended up winning the game by 149 runs.
Batting first the home side totalled 181 for 9 with opener Spencer Dawes making a telling 45. Anwar also made a major contribution to the home sides total scoring 44.
In reply Alfas struggled to get to grips with the playing surface and were skittled out for a meagre 32 runs. Dawes completed a fantastic day by returning figures of 3 for 3 off 3 overs. Tim Stanford and Alistair Faulkner also bowled superbly for the home side, finishing with 4-15 and 3-11 respecively. The victory gave the Intellectuals 18 points, which was enough to overtake San Fulgencio and secure 4th place.
Alfas had already secured second place and can be happy with their overall league campaign throughout the year.
Bonalba looks forward to becoming a permanent ground for all of the Intellectuals home games next season, and both teams could be major contenders for the title, with Alcorcon promoted to Costa Blanca League One.
