INTELLECTUALS DEMOLISH SPORTING ALFAS II AT BONALBA

Intellectuals Cricket Club returned to winning ways in rousing fashion with a demolition job of top of the table outfit Sporting Alfas.

The Albir based club were shellshocked at finding themselves three wickets down with no runs on the board after being put into bat by the home side.

Things did not get any better for the visitors as none of their players made double figures in a final total of 36 and nine extras was the joint top score along with skipper Geoff Evans’s nine not out.

The bowling figures made for much better reading as Faran claimed four wickets Waqar Waris and Ahmad bagged three wicket each bagged three.

Intellectuals took little time in knocking off the misery total but the did lose one wicket in the process. The home side secured the 24 points for the win whilst Alfas failed to add a single point to their current total and virtually ends any chance they had of winning these years Development League.

INTELLECTUALS REPORT ON THE GAME

A GREAT RESULT FOR THE INTELLECTUALS WHO ARE BACK IN THE TITLE HUNT

A batting collapse by Sporting Alfas left the Intellectuals just 37 runs to get for victory. This was achieved comfortably and well before the afternoon heat could take its toll on both sides. A small consolation perhaps for the earlier finish

Sporting Alfas 2XI 36 all out (0pts) lost to The Intellectuals 37 for 1 (24pts) by nine wickets
(Intellectuals: I. Ahmad 11-3-18-3; W. Waris 11-4-12-3; F. Faran 2-0-4-4; N. Anwar 22 not out)

Intellectuals Man of the Match: Sami for his opening bowling spell that rocked the boat making the Alfas openers loose there footing and fall overboard in rapid succession; it must be added that he was ably assisted by Waseem and Faisal and the whole team by the inspirational captaincy of Tim Richards.

Tim was no doubt fired up by the arrival of his new born son James Powell Richards Cardoso on Friday 1st August; young James weighing in at 7lb 5oz. Our congratulations go out to Tim and all the family. A great result all round.
