The Intellectuals Cricket Club of Alicante got their league campaign back on track with a victory over local rivals La Manga CC in the latest match played at the Murcia resort.
Batting first the visitors scored 162 in their innings. The main contributor to the Intellectuals total was Tom Richards who cracked 64 runs. Hugh James was the most productive of the La Manga bowling attack, bagging three wickets for just 17 runs.
In reply La Manga lost two early wickets. Tom Vine and David Williams then looked to be winning the game for the home side with a strong third wicket partnership but both fell in quick succession for 35 and 34 respectively to turn the game back the way of the Intellectuals.
The last seven batsmen for La Manga failed to produce any worthy partnerships and they were finally bowled out for 120, forty-three runs shy of victory. Intellectuals took maximum points from the game whilst La Manga took away seven points from the contest.
Later in the week the Intellectuals gained another maximum as Almazora were once again unable to find a side for the forthcoming fixture this weekend.
