Ibiza Cricket Club Theft
Ibiza Cricket Club was left in shock on Sunday after it was
found that a large part of their brand new mat had been cut off and
stolen from
the football stadium in San Jose.
The theft was discovered as the team rolled out the mat prior to the
game
against the Royal Navy side from HMS Albion. The mat was purchased from
the UK in October
2007 at a cost of over 2000 euros after a donation from Winterflood
Securities Limited
and kindly bought over free of charge by Bob Jiggins Transport. The
mat, which
is now unusable, was normally rolled up and left under cover at the
stadium. Club
Captain Martin Makepeace said “This is a dark day for the Club and we
are
staggered by what has happened. I hope whoever has stolen it realizes
what they
have done to this club, we will be looking to San Jose town hall to
help find a solution”.
