Ibiza Cricket Club opened this seasons campaign with a loss to touring side Redbourn Cricket Club. It was also their first game ever at their new ground, and the first time they had used their new wicket, that had been provided by Cricket Espana.
Ibiza batted first and Graham Boe had the honour of scoring the first ever four at the new ground, which is at the Polo Club on the island. Struggling at 25 for 2 off nearly eight overs, the home side managed to see out their full 25 overs to post a score of 85 for nine.
The St Albans based club had little difficulty in chasing down the score and came out comfartable winners by six wickets at the end of the contest. Both clubs enjoyed lunch at the club and will return tomorrow for a rematch – 12.30 start, all welcome.
First ball bowled at the new Ibiza ground.
