The Girona Premier League started last weekend and it was Garrotxa and Pak Montcada who played first in the ten team league.
After a wonderful opening ceremony attended by the local Mayoress Garrotxa batted first and made 165 for 7 in their twenty overs at Olot Cricket Ground. Jatinder made a fine half century and he was ably supported by Lakwinder (23) and Parkash (21 not out) in accumulating a competitive total. For Montcada Ilyaas was the pick of the bowlers taking three prime wickets for just 19 runs.
Montcada looked to be on track to chase down the total but just fell short at the end by 27 runs. Imran with 35 was the chief threat but found few others able to support him as the Garrotxa bowlers got the better on the day. Parminder took three wickets and Parkash also two wickets to complete a fine all round performance for the latter.
