The four countries for the 2023 ICC World Cup Women’s European Division One qualifier are now confirmed after the six team Division Two Tournament was completed in Jersey last week.
Going into the final group of matches of the Division Two event Sweden and Turkey were out of contention and Jersey required Turkey to upset Italy in what seemed to be an unlikely scenario. It was a winner takes all match for the Germany v France tie.
In the end Italy easily beat Turkey to claim their place in the Division One qualifiers and France won a tight match against Germany to book their spot on the plane to Spain.
Both Italy and France will join the Netherlands and Scotland in the Division One competition that will be played at Desert Springs. The top two from that event will advance to the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup qualifier along with Sri Lanka, Ireland and six other regional qualifiers.
The event will be hosted by Cricket España and will take place at the wonderful Desert Springs complex in Almeria between September 6th and 12th 2024.
