SPORTING ALFAS PLAYER WORKING AT LORDS
Former Spanish International and current Sporting Alfas player Jaime Catala has secured a five month temporary position working as an Administration Assistant at the ICC Europe Offices in Lords, London.
Jaime, who has just finished his degree in Exercise and Sport Sciences at Exeter University has been working at the offices in London for a month and he was part of the administration team that put together the successful Governance and Administration Forum at Lords last week.
Jaime will be working at the offices during the busy spring and summer months and will beresponsible for assisting the ICC Europe Office staff in the area of operations and planning. He will also concentrate on the implementation of a range of programmes aimed at assisting the continued growth, development and improvement of cricket within the 30 Member Countries of the ICC Europe Region.
Areas Jaime will focus on include supporting the player eligibility database; applications for the coaches and officials association; support for events; coordination of tournament resources; and general office administration and support.
He continues to be on Sporting Alfas books and still has aspirations to play for Spain in the future. In the past he was part of Spanish squad that went to Vienna, Austria in 2003 to compete for the European Cricket Council Trophy that was organised by the ICC.
A bowler by trade, Jaime has career best figures for Alfas of 3-37 against Harpenden CC (16th Feb 2008) and the 16 not out he recorded to secure victory against a Market Drayton Invitational XI (24th April 2003) combined with tidy figures of 2 for 16 off 8 overs in the same game probably constitutes his best all round performance for the Alicante based side.
Everyone at CE wish Jaime well in his new role at Lords.
