EVENTS GALORE AT LA MANGA

CRICKET EVENTS RULE THE ROOST AT LA MANGA.

Golf takes a back seat this weekend at the world famous La Manga resort when the venue plays host to two important events on the Spanish cricket calendar.

Firstly, a delegation from the ICC will be at the resort as part of of their International Development Committee Conference. This year it is the turn of Europe to host the event and Spain is fortunate enough to have been given the chance to present the meeting. Representing Europe will be ICC European Regional Development manager Richard Holdsworth, and Roger Knight, the former Surrey, Gloucstershire and Sussex player who is also the current chairman of the European Cricket Council..

Cricket Espana have been asked to give a 30-45 minute presentation to the conference on Spanish cricket and this presentation will be put on the website in the near future once it has been presented to the delegation.

Concurrently, La Manga is hosting a charity tournament on the 9th-11th of November. The tournament is being organised in collaboration with Cricket Espana, and with the support and sponsorship of Gray Nicolls, Caja Murcia and the Lord’s and Lady Taverners.Former England test players Derek Underwood, Tim Munton and Rachel Heyhoe-Flint have already confirmed for the event., and a gala dinner will take place on the evening of the 11th.

Six teams will be taking part in the contest, Falco, Catalonia and a CE Invitational XI from Spain, Lions CC from Norway and Sinjuns CC and Elliot CC from the UK. The draw for the tournanent has taken place and the tournament referee Ron Graham as confirmed the umpire appointments.
