Madrid II started their weekend on the coast with a spirited performance against a fast improving Torrevieja but still ended on the wrong end of a 485 run thriller.
Losing the toss and put into bat by the hosts Madrid II got off to a great start with an 134 run partnership between youngster Luke Clark and Sumon Hussain. Luke, one of three youngsters in the Madrid side hit a fine 34 whilst Sumon continued his good recent form to complete a fine century. He eventually fell for 115. Late cameos from Dinesh (27) and Angappan (20) boosted the visitors total to 241 all out.
Keiron Wood had a fine eight over spell for Torrevieja taking four wickets for 48 runs at a cost of six runs per over.
In reply, Torrevieja remained composed and chased down the large run chase for the loss of just four wickets. Kieran Wood ended the day with 68 to put in a fine all round performance on the day, whilst Muller also played a classy innings scoring 74 before falling with just 20 runs required.
Torreviaja took maximum points from their six wicket victory whilst Madrid can count themselves unlucky not to have received more than six points from the contest.
