Torrevieja and Madrid II fought hard and long in an excellent game of cricket for the spoils and it was the home sifde that emerged victorious to the tune of 12 runs.
Torry batted first and opener Lee Blann continued his rich vein of form by scoring 99 before being caught behind by Stirton of the bowling of Babu to the dissapointment of the home crowd.
Fellow opener Kieron Wood also batted well for 33 in an opening stand of 92 but after both openers departed Madrid II got back in the game by taking the last eight wickets for just 75 runs.
In reply Madrid kept up with the pace initially thanks to a fine 55 by opener David Stirton but a steady flow of wickets for the home side ensured a nervy ending.
A fine spell of bowling by J. Bay, who took 4-55, swayed the match Torrevieja’s way and the visitors were finally bowled out for 196, just 12 runs shy of the required total.
