Madrid Stars beat Madrid United in a tense and fiery derby in the latest league confrontation in the ECCL/
The Stars who had several ex – Madrid United players in their ranks restricted the United batting to 124 all out in their innings. Shehzad top scored with 36 but found little support from any of his collegues.
In reply, The Stars made light work of reaching their required total, making 125 for just the loss of 5 wickets. This was despite an excellent spell of bowling by Touqeer Hussein who took four wickets to fall for the cost of just 33 runs.
Rana Muneeb was the lynchpin for the Stars, knocking an unbeaten 36 to give his team a winning start in the league and 19 points. Madrid United came away from the game with just three points.
Unfortunately, an unsavoury incident regarding Touqeer Hussein and the umpire soured proceedings and as a result of his actions the Madrid United player has been banned for two matches in accordance with 2.1 of the Spanish Cricket disciplinary Code of Conduct.
