ST GEORGE SURGE PAST LANZAROTE
A fantastic 222 opening partnership between Des Stonier and Dave Smith gave St George a crushing victory over rivals Lanzarote
Stonier hit 65 and Dave Smith a splendid 157 as the visiting team amassed a formidable 254 for 2 off their allocation of overs. Prem and Deepak took a wicket a piece but none of the Lanzarote bowlers could be happy with their final bowling figures.
In reply, the home side rallied to score 146 all out, largely due to a fine 49 by Jackie. Dave Smith added to his fine batting performance by bagging two wickets along with team mate Jamie Rogerson. However, the bowling performance of the day came from Peter Starmer who finished with 3-21 from his six overs.
Lanzarote took 3 points away from the game whilst St George took maximum points to sit on top of the league at this early stage of the season.
