SPANISH PLAYERS MEET IN HERTFORDSHIRE LEAGUE CLASH

Two Spanish Internationals met up for the first time in a while yesterday. Nothing unusual about that you may think, except it was in an Hertfordshire League game in England.

Ravi Panchal and Pedro Venus were on opposite sides when Watford Town took on Bishop Stortford in a Division Two clash.

Pedro, who was born in Madrid, is now playing in Stortford after a long spell with Gravesend in Kent. He represented Spain for over a decade in ICC internationals contributing with valuable runs and wickets for the National side during that time.

Ravi is in his second season at Watford Town and recently has also been to Tanzania and Jersey with the Cricket Club Conference. He had a particularly good tour of Jersey, which included bowling current Sussex star Jonty Jenner for a duck, and was part of the squad that played against the Tom Maynard Academy and the La Manga Classic Tournament earlier in the year.

Unfortunately the game between Watford and Stortford fell foul to the weather, so no one got the bragging rights for the day. We hope both players have successful seasons and both will have one eye on the calendar for their return clash in Stortford on July 22nd.
