Unseeded Salt sprung an upset by beating the seeded Farners in the latest game in the Cataluyna League played at Empuriabrava.
In their first league contest of the season Salt batted first and scored 159 for nine from their 25 overs. Top scorer for the batting side was Ahmed with 38 whilst Sethi took three wickets for 18 in a good spell of bowling for Farners.
In reply, the top five Farners batsmen failed to reach double figures. Manpreet batting a five and Sukha at seven looked to be turning the game the way of the seeded team but the untimely dismissal of Manpreet when he had made 38 was a huge blow for Farners.
To add “Salt” into the wounds Sukha was left unbeaten on 43 as he ran out of batting partners at the other end. Mani was the top bowler for the victors, taking three of the top order batsmen in a fine opening spell for a cost of just 24 runs.
