Madrid Stars hope of winning the ECCL Premier League at the first attempt took a severe blow as they were comprehensively beaten by a resurgent Pinatar Pirates.
Pirates batted first and posted a very challenging 246 all out on a difficult playing Pinatar wicket. Munib Ranjah top scored with 58 but it was a great all round performance by the team as eight of the eleven batsmen got starts and made notable contributions. For the visitors Tasawar took four wickets at the cost of 44 runs.
The normally reliant Madrid Stars batting had a serious off day and they were bowled out for just 78. The had no answer to the bowling of Paul Hennessey who took six of the Stars wickets to fall.
The 168 run victory for Pinatar give the hosts 19 points whilst Madrid received a meagre 6 points to their league title aspirations.
Pinatar Pirates (19 points) beat Madrid Star (6 points) by 168 runs.
