MISERABLE WEEKEND FOR MADRID AT LA MANGA

Valencia Green made it a miserable weekend in La Manga for Madrid by giving the capital club its second succesive loss on consecutive days.

After being comprehensively beaten by Alfas the day before Madrid were hoping to salvage something from their weekend in Murcia but Green had other ideas.

Valencia Green batted first and put on 78 for the first wicket before Fernandez made the breakthrough having Ikram caught for 32. Fellow opener Shahid continued his good form and went on to make 95 in the Green total of 260 for 9.

In reply, Madrid put up a valiant effort, batting much better than the previous day. Useful contributions from Langhans (75) Abbas (58) and Doust (33) kept Madrid in the game early on but the Green bowling attack proved just too strong and they kept the Madrillenos to 242 for 7 off their allocated overs.

With this result Green moved ahead of La Manga into second place but they have played more games than the Murcia based club who have games in hand of both Green and current league leaders Sporting Alfas.
