Malta announced today that Virat Kohli’s coach Rajkumar Sharma will be in charge of their team for the T20 International series between Spain, Estonia and Malta.

The former Ranji Trophy player who represented Delhi at first class cricket for five years was appointed recently for the event and he will lead their 14 man squad at the end of March when the three teams play each other on grass at the fabulous La Manga resort in Southern Spain.

Estonia have also named a 13 man squad for the event, which includes six players who have had experience in previous ICC tournaments. One of those returning players is Tim Heath who hit a remarkable 113 runs off 45 balls in his countries 64 run victory over hosts Slovenia in the ICC Europe Division Three Championship in 2011. A year later they finished eighth of twelve in Corfu recording two victories.

Ironically all three teams were in the same group at the tournament in Greece. Spain beat both Estonia and Malta, whilst Estonia emerged victoriously against Malta when the teams met at the Maessonghi Ground. MCC member Nowell Khosla, who represented Malta that day is also heading to Manga and he will captain his country in this competition.

Spain will announce their 14 man squad next week after the Cataluyna trials for the Spanish National squad that are taking place on Sunday. Twenty two players from the region will participate in the trials at Montjuic under the watching eyes of the selection committee, National Coach Pete Williams, the directorate of cricket Kevin Laundon and Spanish National captain Christian Munoz-Mills.

Players that get through the trials will then be assessed alongside the current squad to determine the squad for this particular tournament.
