Levante II and Pinatar II were the latest teams to endure a league game in the hot sun at the VCG and it was the visitors from Murcia who came out on top.
The hosts batted first and started well enough putting on 63 for the first wicket thanks to openers Tony Little and Rob Pickford. Little was finally out for a well constructed 29.
Coming in at three was Mark Green, making his seasonal debut but he fell without troubling the scorers with jut one run added to the total.
It was then left to Pickford and veteran Orville Sennhouse to make a major contribution to the Levante innings. Together they took the score to 135 but then the wheels fell off the Levante innings.
Sennhouse ended with 39 and Pickford with 68 but the last seven Levante batsmen could only muster 22 runs with the bat between them. They hosts finally closed their innings on 175 all out. S. Khan bowled one over for Pinatar and took two wickets for just three runs. B Singh also bowled well, his eight overs yielding two wickets for just 35 runs.
In reply, Pinatar batted solidly and never looked in danger despite the blip of losing both openers cheaply. They overtook the Levante score with seven wickets intact to register another impressive victory. S. Singh scored 69 not out and P Singh 41 not out. Prior to that B. Singh had put the visitors in control with a fine 48.
Levante took 4 points from the game whilst Pinatar took 20 points.
