Levante started their home games this season with a double over Madrid CC and Madrid United.
On Saturday Madrid CC batted first and steadily accumulated 289 runs in their allotted 40 overs, losing just four wickets. Adam Langhans got his usual 100 at Levante’s ground finishing with 136 and he was well supported by Finlayson with 63 and an unbeaten 35 for Tetlow. Pick of the bowlers was Tariq with 1-33 including starting the game with three straight maidens.
Levante in reply went mad scoring at ten an over throughout with Shakheel hitting 133 off just 52 balls in an opening stand of 189 with Rhys Morgan who finished unbeaten on 84 and Sandheep coming in to hit a quick fire 63 passing the total required in the 29th over.
Sunday brought unbeaten Madrid United to the LCG. The road of the previous day was converted into a pitch causing all sorts of problems to the Madrid United batsmen. An outstanding bowling display from the whole attack allowed Tariq with 3-34, Faiz with 2-23, Sami with 2-28 and Sandheep with 1-30 to dominate and it was all finished off by Azar with 2-0 off three balls. Top scorer for United was number 9 Kashif Aziz with 55 and Mohammed Ashraf scored a patient 39. In reply an attack missing Torqueer Hussein and Ali Cheema made little impression.
The first over went for 21 and Levante were on their way. Rhys Morgan again anchored the innings, despite being involved in two run outs, with an unbeaten 54 and he was supported by Sharad with 41 and Shakheel with 27. The innings was finished off with a huge six by Tariq to go to 17 and pass Madrid United’s total for the loss of just five wickets. Standout bowler for Madrid United was Kashif Aziz with 2-18 off just three overs.
