Kids Learn the Ropes with Mojacar Cricket Club
The Mojacar Cricket Club nets facilities were officially declared open on Wednesday evening by George Wambeek, of Cricket España, and skipper of La Manga Cricket Club. Neil Brook, also from La Manga, and in charge of Spanish Youth Cricket, was also in attendance as were many of Mojacar Cricket Club juniors. Neil and George were especially keen to see how our youngsters were getting on and got involved straight away with some extra coaching for the lads and lasses. Membership of the juniors is growing fast and is certainly starting to bring on new talent which bodes well for the future of the club. As well as individual coaching, George and Neil got involved with the Kwick Cricket match so the youngsters could display their competitive talent. Plans are a foot to take the juniors to La Manga for a coaching and playing day, together with the La Manga and Spanish juniors coached by Neil. Mojacar Cricket Club under the watchful eye of head coach and club captain Phil Beal will be organising a summer school for the juniors to take their mind off lazy days on the beach during the school holidays. We will be announcing dates in The Sol Times very shortly.
Mojacar Cricket Club would not only like to thank George and Neil for the fantastic support that the Spanish Cricket Board have given to Mojacar Cricket Club, but also to Colt Developments for making our net facilities at Cortijo Grande a great place to be on a Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings . In particular, Mojacar would like to thank Craig Cook and Gary Cashman for providing much needed help in getting the facilities ready and assistant junior coach Sam Lewis for all his efforts including his welding skills, and the club members that gave up their valuable time to get everything ready. Phil Beal deserves a special mention for all the hard work and enthusiasm, unseen in the background, for getting Mojacar Cricket Club to the for-front of Spanish Cricket.
Mojacar Cricket Club are always looking for new members of any standard and age, and parents of any juniors will always find a great atmosphere and a nearby bar to enjoy the special and scenery and unique atmosphere of Cortijo Grande while the juniors are in the good hands of qualified coaching staff. If anybody would like more information of the Club, want to play cricket at the highest standard or have a son or daughter that would like to start playing cricket, then please contact Phil Beal on 696 932 163.
