IBIZA WIN WEEKEND FRIENDLIES

Ibiza warmed up for their forthcoming matches with Sporting Alfas and the Baeleric Cup with back to back victories over South London Oddballs, affectionately known as the “Slobs”.

In game one Ibiza batted first and scored runs with ease to post a competitive total of 218 for 4 off their 35 overs. Pete Essex was in fine form with the bat notching up 66 runs and he was ably supported by Greame Cooper, who chipped in with a fine half century.

The “Slobs” tried hard to chase down the daunting total but were finally all out for 134 in the 31st over.

Sunday’s game went pretty much in the same vein, with Ibiza securing a comfortable victory. The Oddballs batted first and could not improve on the day before as they were again bowled out cheaply, this time for just 87 off 24.1 overs.

The hosts made light work of that score winning by a seven wicket margin in the 21st over. Next week Sporting Alfas cross over to the island from the mainland as part of the annual home and way games that have become a permanent fixture on each clubs fixture list.
