Ibiza Cricket Club had an excellent weekend of cricket with two competitive matches against a touring side from Cambridgeshire known as the Sharks.
In the first game the match was nip and tuck with both sides having every chance of claiming victory. Ibiza batted first and posted a competitive 192 for 9 from their 35 overs.
The Sharks took it down to the wire, only to be bowled out for 180 with five balls of their innings left, to give the hosts a 12 run victory.
The following day the visitors took revenge in another closely run contest. The Sharks took to the crease first this time around and posted the best score of the tour with a very challenging sum of 205 for 5 from their 35 overs.
Ibiza tried valiantly to chase down the above par score, but were finally bowled out for 150, 55 runs shy of the required score.
Both games were played in an excellent spirit. Next weekend the islanders entertain York St John University and then play a few games with Sporting Alfas before they welcome both Mallorca and Menorca for this year’s Balearic Cup.
