Last week Neil Brook, the Regional Development Officer for the ECCL and the Women’s National team manager held a CRIIIO cricket festival at La Manga Resort.
106 pupils from three local schools within Murcia and Alicante regions took part in the Criiio event. The students were divided into four leagues, based on ages, with two two secondary and two primary school events.
From this initial group of schools the future plan is to create secondary hard ball leagues at U13 U15 and U17 levels. Each school has the facility to accomodate this.
The primary pupils will play soft ball cricket with a pathway for hard ball cricket already in place.
Any hardball cricketers interested will be put in contact with local clubs and the clubs themselves will be encouraged to engage with the local schools to build relationships with them.
