CRICKET INCLUDED IN SPORTS DAY AT PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL

The Junior Director of Cricket, Neil Brook, was on hand to help out with a mini cricket event at the Phoenix International School as part of their winter Sports Day activities.

“The tension had been mounting all week at Phoenix International School as the Bulls prepared to do battle with the Bears and the Alligators squared up to the Tigers in an all-out four way clash that saw class mates pitched against each other for the chance to lift the coveted winter sports day trophy.

The atmosphere was electric at CDM, Orihuela Costa, which provided the perfect back drop for a series of races and team events incorporating all age groups from Preschool through to Year 11. The school´s inclusive philosophy and family atmosphere was very apparent as every child proudly participated to the very best of their ability. Everybody got involved in the events and even the teachers could not escape being press-ganged into a relay race where the ball was passed over and under the legs: – and if that wasn´t enough, each house battled it out in an intense teacher and student cricket match.

The totals at the end of the day could not have been closer with only five points between the highest and the lowest scoring teams. Congratulations to Los Osos (the blue team) who came in at fourth place, followed by Los Caimanes (in green) and Los Toros (in red) who were level pegging in joint second place. But the glory, on this occasion, had to go to Los Tigres in yellow who snatched victory from the jaws of their classmates to take the lead by a small margin of just two points.

The school would like to take this opportunity to say how proud it is of all the students who took part. They were a credit to their parents, themselves and the school. We would also like to extend our appreciation to all parents who attended to support the school. Well done everyone for making the whole day such an incredible success”
