Argentine Cricket celebrated its 200th Anniversary in 2006. The first recorded match dates back to October 1806 played by the British Soldiers in San Antonio de Areco.
 
The 200 years festivities were a success, with numerous touring teams visiting Argentina including the South African Country Districts, MCC & Hampshire Hogs.

The Argentine Cricket season runs from October to the end of March, with a short break over the Christmas and New Year period.
 
The 2005/06 season has been an action packed season with the various foreign teams along with the introduction of the first Twenty/Twenty Cup for the First Division clubs.
 
The season also included a number of matches for the junior leagues and various visiting teams that took part in the Third Pampero Under 16’s Tournament held last December.
 
The 2006/7 season will also include the following Championships:
 
First Division Championship
Robin Stuart Shield
Saturday Championship
Second Division Championship
Max Challenge
 
The famous three day North vs. South will be celebrating itss 109th match this next season. The game is scheduled to be played at the Hurlingham club which acts as the National ground for the Argentine Cricket Association.
 
The Carcamanes (Over 40’s) Festival is also one of the Annual highlights in the Argentine cricket season. Next March marks the 4th festival which will be held from the 03-10th March and will attract teams from England, ArgentinaBotswana, Anguilla and UAE so far.
 
Cricket currently forms part of fifteen schools extra curriculum activities. There is an active schools league which will be held in October and November for an u15 and u18 age group.
 
Cricket is mainly played in Buenos Aires area, however there is some cricket played by the Rosario Athletic Club along with a new project that has just been undertaken by the Association to develop cricket in Mar del Plata.
 
Argentina boasts three picturesque grounds with turf wickets and eight artificial pitches. These clubs also boast excellent training and net facilities for visiting teams.
