After Madrid United’s visit to the fantastic Cartama Oval last month it was the turn of a Combined team from Barcelona, Cataluyna CC and Barcelona Eagles CC to visit Malaga.
On arrival, the Barcelona boys visited the beach and sampled some of the local ice cream before putting in a fantastic performance on the field to easily beat the Marbella Stars in both games.
In match one on the Saturday the Combined side made 289 for six in 35 Overs with both Yasir and Shehzad declaring on reaching three figures.
In reply the Marbella Stars posted 219 for eight in their allocated overs to fall short by 70 runs.
Match two produced an even more comprehensive victory for the team from the North of Spain. Batting first the visitors scored 349 for 6 from their full quota of overs. It was a great batting display by the Catalan boys with Armaghan Khan, Qaisar, Husnan and Nisar all contributing heavily with runs.
In reply, the Marbella Stars put in a plucky effort but in trying to sustain a run rate of ten an over for the full duration of their innings they lost wickets at regular intervals. They were finally bowled out for 174 to gave the combined XI from Barca a 175 run victory.
The game was played in excellent spirit and the team from the North of Spain enjoyed their return journey of the 2000 km round trip, arriving safe and sound back in their city in the early hours of Monday morning.
